Local notes from the Færð og Veður team
The road around the peninsula is mostly low and coastal. The crossings over the middle of it — Vatnaleið (Route 56) and Fróðárheiði (Route 54) — are higher and get snow first.
The western tip round Snæfellsjökull (Route 574) gets less frequent winter service than the main road. Check its service days below before you plan to drive round the glacier.
