Hellisheiði is the Ring Road between Reykjavík and Hveragerði, at about 370 m. It is the busiest mountain road in Iceland and can turn slippery with little warning.

When Hellisheiði closes, traffic is usually directed over Þrengsli (Route 39) to the south — its condition is shown above.
